Carmen Hau entered the film industry upon graduation from New Era University College in 2022, then immersing herself in the world of filmmaking by joining Apparat. She loves curating film screenings, organizing festivals and is deeply passionate about storytelling through film & cinema.

As an Assistant Producer, Carmen played a crucial role in the development, production, post-production of various feature films and documentaries, as well as involved in the marketing and distribution for the successful cinema release of Apparat latest feature, "Harum Malam” (2023).

 

In 2023, Carmen made significant contributions to the production of the mixed-media art installation "Imagining Ali Wallace" and the short documentary "Becoming Ndang". Building on her expertise, she further honed her skills in 2024 by actively participating in the production of multiple documentaries and producing the experimental hybrid feature "MOTO" directed by Chris Chong Chan Fui.

 

Carmen is also realising her ambitions through the organization of film screenings and participation in international film festivals. In 2022, she coordinated the Hong Kong documentary "Revolution of our Times" screening tour across Malaysia. She also served as the only international volunteer at the Jogja-NETPAC Asian Film Festival (JAFF) in 2023, managing hospitality and translations for overseas guests. Additionally, she acts as the volunteer manager for the South East Asia Shorts Film Festival (SeaShorts) in 2024.

 

Eager to continue expanding her knowledge and experience in film producing, Carmen is constantly seeking new learning opportunities and challenges, and hoping to bring creativity, enthusiasm, and a strong work ethic to every project she undertakes.
